Kerala Kathakali Center Unveils Cultural Marvels
Welcome to the Great K V Kathakali Center, Kerala: Nurturing Cultural Excellence with Passion and Dedication
We are more than just an organization for performing Kathakali and Indian classical arts. Established in 1994 through the visionary efforts of the Kalamandalam Vijayan. Our center was born out of a genuine desire to meet the growing demand for exceptional Kathakali performances.
Nestled near the enchanting Fort Kochi Beach, in the heart of Kochi city, our center stands as a testament to our commitment to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Kerala. In 2010, we expanded our horizons with the establishment of a new institution near the revered Santa cruz Basilica Church in Fort Kochi, an auspicious location steeped in history and spirituality.
With initial support from the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) and the National Mission for Sustainable Tourism (NMST), we have flourished, broadening our activities and becoming a beacon for artistic excellence. Over the years, we have proudly showcased our craft through more than 500 captivating shows, touching the hearts of audiences far and wide.
Our center has become a haven for aspiring artists, nurturing over 100 talented individuals through our esteemed mentorship program. Drawing students from all corners of India, we have emerged as a leading training facility for Kathakali artists, providing a platform for their growth and development.
We believe in the power of education and knowledge-sharing. That's why we organize an annual Kathakali festival and conduct workshops, enabling youth to immerse themselves in the grace and beauty of Kathakali dance. Our center also boasts a unique Kathakali language program, engaging children through interactive displays that foster a deeper understanding of this captivating art form and its cultural significance.
We take pride in our contributions to the community, working tirelessly to ensure that our rich traditions and artistic treasures continue to thrive.
